Having grown among the mouth-breathing masses I had no idea what a bespoke was. Apparently it's not a thing. It means custom. Yeah those high-fliers over in London say that kind of stuff all the time. Isn't that something? Well right here in distant and exotic Riverside, California we meticulously craft some of the world's finest bespoke woolen rugs in any shape and size, down to the inch.

We inventory over one hundred and fifty different wool yarns from New Zealand, Great Britain, and Northern Europe in various sizes, shapes, and colors and if the standard colors don't work, almost every one of them can be custom dyed to the exact shade you desire. We offer twenty-eight different shags in various standard textures and price-points. Many use nearly ten-pounds of premium wool yarn per square yard. Yikes!, that's nearly 160 ounces!

But that's not all; we also offer bold and large-scale loops, stripes, and patterns for a grand total of over fifty standard rug designs. Since every rug, whether standard or custom, is made-to-order, we consider the standard designs as just starting points. Beyond that, we offer virtually unlimited custom flexibility in color, pattern, texture and size.

More Things You Didn't Know About Wool

For those of you new to this stuff, that doo-dad above the ñ changes the sound of the word. It goes from VY-COO-NA to VY-COO-NYA. Pretty slick eh? And it's so much easier than having to use one of those pesky Y's. Anyway, vicuñas are camel-like animals indigenous to the high Andes in South America and like many non-sheep, their fur can be labeled as wool. Vicuñas produce small amounts of extremely fine wool and it's very expensive since the animals can only be shorn once every three years. How expensive you ask? It's somewhere in the neighborhood of two to three hundred dollars per pound (about 100 times more expensive than sheep's wool). Finished vicuña fabrics range from $US 1,800 to $US 3,000 per yard, so a scarf can set you back about two grand and a man's sports coat up to twenty-five large. That's some long green right there. Vicuña is by far the world's most expensive wool and is way too fine for use as a floor covering. In ancient times the Inca valued vicuñas highly. It was against the law for anyone but royalty to wear vicuña wool garments. Today the vicuña is the national animal of Peru and appears in the Peruvian coat of arms.
