If you haven't stopped reading yet, this just might do the trick. Here goes...In a seeming paradox, wool can absorb water and repel water simultaneously. Here's how; the outer surface of wool fiber is made up of fatty acid proteins and does not absorb liquid. However, structural features in the fiber's interior, called salt linkages can sop up copious quantities of moisture in vapor form (over 30% of its weight without feeling damp). In short wool hates liquid but loves vapor. If you're still reading, we're very proud of you!!
